Is There an “I” in “We?” – Children as Individuals or Group Subjects in School-Age Educare Staff’s Collegial Conversations

The aim of this study is to gain knowledge how School-Age EduCare (SAEC) staff in and through collegial conversations construe a child/children. Collegial with two SAEC teams were analyzed using the theoretical concepts from fields discourse analysis systemic functional grammar. results show that children repeatedly construed as group subject by more rarely individual subjects. subjects four different ways: general groups, pre-determined quantity-related behavior-related groups. who mainly ones diverged group, often negative ways.
